WELCOME TO TABLES AT NITIDA

Tables at Nitida was opened in November 2010 as a Café and restaurant for the curious wine connoisseur looking for a pairing for their wine. We have since matured into a Family Bistro which has become our visitors’ favourite breakfast and lunch spot, with breakfast dishes such as our Brioche French toast served with caramelized bananas, chopped walnuts and streaky bacon or for a breakaway lunch, try our crispy wraps, scrumptious salads or mouthwatering home made burger.

HEAD CHEF PROFILE – WHO IS SHANI KLEYNHANS?

When we think of a woman that we admire at Nitida, we think of our Head Chef at Tables at Nitida, Shani Kleynhans. Shani has been with Tables since March 2012 and is originally from Jeffreys Bay, Eastern Cape.

Chef Shani has always loved the culinary arts and hospitality industry from a very young age.

Shani started her career as a chef and this also where she completed her intensive 6 months in house training as a chef in the year 2010, at 3 Fat Fish Restaurant / The Mills Academy in Jeffreys Bay, under the mentorship of Chef Brent Mills & his wife Emmy-Lou Mills.

Shani brings with her down-to-earth determination and commitment. Shani is hands down one of the most endearing chef’s you’ll ever meet. Although our diners don’t know this, she is tough, hardworking and an absolute sweetheart. She is always willing to share her love for food and the industry and will gladly answer any questions you have.

Shani and the team love to express who we are in every dish plated at Tables, fun, and playful, with a twist and unique flavor combinations, that will linger with you long after you have left Tables, wanting to come back for more!

Meet our Head Chef, Shani & team!

Nitida Wine Cellars

Durbanville, South Africa
Situated in the heart of the Durbanville Wine Valley you will find our family-owned and operated wine cellar. Although not intentionally award-driven, there is no denying the status of our Wine of Origin Cape Town, boutique wines. For us, being handmade is more than just a physical process and approach, it is about perfecting the small details along the way while treating each batch of juice with respect throughout its journey from the vine to Nitida wines. It is also about working with nature and thereby ensuring that the wine embodies our attitude and brand.

“We completely believe that beautiful wines come from day-to-day thoughtful management in the vineyards.” Our bottom line is that to be part of the Nitida family, requires commitment, passion and a desire to be involved.

After the Veller family purchased the smallest of the Durbanville farms in 1990 Bernhard, a qualified engineer, took 2 weeks off work in 1992 to plant some vineyard, planning to only make a few barrels of wine.  Three years later we won our first Gold Medal for our Sauvignon Blanc.  In 2001 we were recognized as a benchmark Semillon producer.  Helgard van Schallkwyk joined us in 2023 as winemaker and has continued the Nitida legacy of creating beautiful, award-winning wines that have a consistently loyal following.  Our method is always one of minimal intervention and allowing the wines to show off our micro-climate.  Here, handmade is truly an attitude.

Nitida embodies devotion, passion, and aspiration. Stroll through our cellar, take delight in our wine tastings, and dine with us at Cassia Restaurant or Tables at Nitida.
