As a parent you know that choosing an outing revolves around what is offered for the children. For a fun and relaxing day out to actually be fun and relaxing the children need to be kept busy and fed. Travelling with a baby and toddlers makes you look at everything very differently. These wine farms are not the only family friendly wine farms but they are definitely my favourite.
Cape Point Wine farm, Cape Town, the view is breathtaking. If you are a family that loves picnics and being outside then this is a must stop for you. They have a cute little pond and rolling gardens to play in. The wines are easy drinking and very affordable.Â
If you want to spoil yourself with finer food and still have the children entertained Simons on Groot Constantia, Cape Town, is a must. The food is absolutely delicious and they cater for little fingers. There is a playground outside for the children to let out some of the pent up energy.
The Durbanville area, just outside Cape Town, boasts a wonderful variety of wine farms. One of the most relaxed and family friendly ones is D’Aria– the tasting room overlooks a play area and a pond, they have a big grassy bank for the children to run around and enjoy themselves. The food is easy eating, burgers and cheese platters. This wine farm is my choice for a lovely lunch outing because it is not as commercial as some of the others in the area. The wines speak for themselves.Â
The adventure lovers would feel at home at Constantia Uitsig, Cape Town. They have an awesome bike park and a great play area attached to a really good restaurant. If you are more the cafe type they have some really fun little shops and less formal ressies on the farm too.
If you are heading out of Cape Town towards Paarl, Fairview is a great stop, not only can you taste their wines, but they have a great cheese menu and goats do roam. The children will enjoy the farm area with all the animals.
South Africa offers beautiful vineyards, wonderful wines and a wonderful climate. South Africa is a perfect destination if you like wine and good food.
