My favourite Wine farms in South Africa with accommodation

One of the best ways to completely immerse yourself in the Cape Winelands in South Africa is by staying on a beautiful wine farm. Waking up overlooking the vineyards is a sight to behold.  You get the full farm experience and get to taste as much as you like without worrying about getting home. It is never easy choosing a good place to stay. These are my suggestions based on personal experiences.

If you are travelling through Stellenbosch and looking for a beautiful traditional Cape Dutch  old world wine farm, Webersberg is my personal favourite. The old world charm of the guesthouse and the newly renovated bathrooms and accommodation is unmatched. We have stayed in the guesthouse and in the managers cottage. You do not want to oversleep and miss the delicious breakfast.

If you are looking for more of a resort feel, Spier is a world famous wine farm with plenty to do and some great restaurants. They have a wide range of wines, which are all very good. They have amazing world class facilities. Even if you do not end up staying here it is a great farm to visit for a wine tasting, lunch, dinner, day out with friends or family.

Cape Town has no shortage of great accommodation, but staying on a wine farm in the middle of a city is unique. Silver Mist Estate is nestled on the Hout Bay side of Constantia and overlooks the forest and sea. You get transported into a new world. The estate has a small town feel with its own restaurant and wine tasting lounge. The apartment is cosy with a wood burning fireplace. We stayed in Owl Cottage and made use of the balcony to enjoy the sunset with pizza from the local and delicious wine. There are a multitude of restaurants and wine farms around, all worth a visit.
